Xiu climbed the stairs up to the south tower, in search of a quiet place to admire the view of the grounds. She smiled a bit at the view of the sunset. Today was one of the few winter days where they had gotten much sunlight. The sun had shone all day, making the thick blanket of snow over the grounds sparkle brilliantly. Xiu took up a seat on a crate so she could gaze out the window without much distraction. Soon she would be heading home for the holidays. Xiu was excited to go back, she couldn't wait to tell her father about her current Outstanding in Herbology. When the door creaked open, Xiu turned her head to look at...

Seamus wasn't sure what had lead him up to the South Tower, but he was happy when he got there. There, standing there looking quite radiant, was Xiu. He smiled shyly at her. "Hi," he replied carefully, trying not to let her see him blushing. He went up beside her, looking out the window. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" he asked quietly. It's true, the grounds were lovely, coated with a fresh sheet of snow while the sun sank down, it's rays catching off of the shimmery surface.

"Gorgeous," Xiu agreed, a small smile on her thin lips. She suddenly felt very nervous indeed. Though Seamus was a year her junior, she had developed a little bit of a crush on him. Briefly, the room brightened, but as soon as she realized what was happening, Xiu brought her ability back under control. Her cheeks turned pink, she had not lost control of her ability like that in a long time.

Seamus felt his heart skip a beat at her response. Sure, it was a stupid topic, something as trivial as discussing the weather... which, is what they were doing in a way. But Xiu's smile and her quiet demenor was rather alluring to him. Suddenly, the room was bathed in an eerie glow, the lights going haywire. Xiu seemed to light up, and when the light finally dimmed, she was blushing. It didn't take a genius to guess. "Light Elemental, huh?" Seamus asked, smiling gently.

"Um, yeah," Xiu said quietly, unable to look Seamus in the eyes. Her gaze fixed itself out to window, as if she were incredibly fascinated by the scene below. It was pretty, but probably nowhere near as interesting as she was pretending. She had always wondered about her parents, she figured they were magical, otherwise she would not have inherited her power. Xiu decided it didn't matter, they had abandoned her as a baby, and as far as she was concerned Neville and Morgan were her parents. Xiu wished that she had something witty to say, or at the very least wasn't so awkward, she didn't want to seem like she was uninviting.

Seamus smiled gently. Normally, he was quiet and didn't have much to say, unlike his father, who was completely outspoken. The two were polar opposites. Maybe that was why they didn't get along too well. That, and Seamus refused to play Quidditch, even though his father wanted him to do something athletic. Seamus' place was among the books, in a quiet solitude he enjoyed. Only Julie, Hyperion, and now Xiu could make him break out of his shell.

Once her embarrassment had quieted, Xiu looked back at Seamus. She found his awkwardness cute, though couldn't help but wonder if he thought the same thing about her. She told herself to stop being silly, Xiu would be surprised if anyone liked her in the romantic sense, to put it bluntly she was a nobody. Sure, she was a prefect and on the Quidditch team, but not many knew her name, she didn't have many friends. Xiu wished she had some idea of what to say, but found that her tongue had become tied.
